Extended editions?

Hello everyone

My first time here

I am contemplating purchasing a D-box system and was curious what the deal is with extended and directors editions.

For example with Aliens, I see the D-Box code listed is for the theatrical version. Nothing mentioned of the directors cut. Does that mean I can only enjoy the code when watching the theatrical?

Or will the code still work with the extended cut just remaining still for the extra footage?

I enjoy a lot of extended versions such as LOTR, T2, Apocalypse Now redux etc. I wouldn’t want to be confined to just theatrical versions

If you have the d-box motion code for the extended version, you can enjoy motion in all the extended version videos.
However, if only the theater d-box motion code exists and the video being watched is an extended version, there is no motion in the video added only to the extended version, but motion automatically works in the same video as the theater version.
